Review – Yes To Cucumbers Facial Towelettes

Hi everyone!

Raise your hand if you adore facial wipes. I mean, what’s not to love: they’re easy to take on-the-go, they’re inexpensive and they require minimal effort. And while face wipes were my go-to in college, in recent times I’ve stayed away from them because I don’t believe that they take off all of my makeup. However, on a weekend trip to Philadelphia, I didn’t feel like toting my entire skin care system with me, so I decided to give face wipes another chance.

I wanted to buy the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Cleansing Wipes because I’ve heard such good things about the wipes, but I didn’t find them in the store. I decided to go with the Yes To Cucumbers On-The-Go Facial Towelettes because I think of that brand as soothing to skin.

My first impressions of the wipes were…not good. The ingredients in the wipes include cucumbers and aloe vera, and let me tell you, you REALLY smell the cucumber. It’s a very strong scent, and not in a good way.

When it came to taking off my makeup, the wipes worked perfectly. There was so makeup left on my eyes, not even eyeliner (full disclosure, I forgot to wear mascara when I tested the wipes). However, the wipes left my skin feeling a little bit weird, and almost tingly? I decided to flush my skin with water to make it feel better.

The next time I used the wipes, I hadn’t worn any makeup that day but I still needed something to wipe off the grime of the day, and I was too lazy to fully wash my face. I used the wipes, which again made my skin feel a little strange. I proceeded to the next step in my routine, which is toner. After I put the toner on, I felt a burning sensation on my face. I panicked a little, but I also wanted to see how long it would burn for. The burning subsided after I put on lotion, and my skin looked ok in the morning, but it was still a scary experience.

The most recent time I tested the wipes, I had on a full face of makeup. Again, the wipes took off all of my makeup, but when I used my toner, I saw the wipes hadn’t made a dent in foundation and concealer at all. Also, I felt the burning sensation again. I decided to fully wash my face by oil cleansing, regular cleansing, then using my toner again. My face felt much better (and cleaner) after that.

My final thoughts on the wipes – Use this to remove your eye makeup, but use something else on your face. It’s possible that my skin just reacted to the cucumbers in the product, and that may not happen to anyone else, but the smell is still too overwhelming for me to suggest this to you guys.

Do you have another cleansing wipe that you want me to try? Comment below!

Xoxo,

Témi

  1. Thanks for sharing 🙂 I love the Neutrogena wipes, although I typically don’t use wipes. My go-to is the Clinique take the day off balm. It removes everything really well.

Finally I find someone that doesn’t really use wipes either! 😊 I’ve never tried that balm before, but I just might buy it and review it. Thank you for your comment and suggestion!
