The Best & Worst Dressed of the 2018 Met Gala

on

Hi guys,

It’s that wonderful time of year again, when celebrities converge at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to show off their best looks. This year’s theme was “Heavenly Bodies – Fashion and the Catholic imagination”. This meant we were due to see a lot of headdresses, a lot of crosses, and a lot of long, loose silhouettes. As always, my critiques are based on how the outfit looks, and the adherence to the theme. Read on for the fashion recap.

The Worst Dressed

Mindy Kaling‘s crown, which was the only exciting thing about her look, was askew and didn’t fit her well.

Wiz Khalifa looked out of place in his non-heavenly, non-Catholic brown suit.

Shailene Woodley went for a Joan of Arc look, but it just seemed stiff and she looked uncomfortable.

The Best Dressed

Olivia Munn looked great in this gold chainmail number.

Blake Lively stunned in this dress that took SIX HUNDRED hours to make.

Jennifer Lopez looked great (as she always does), and she stuck to the theme while showing off her signature style.

Lily Collins’ dress was great, but it was really the makeup that sold me on this look. That teardrop is everything.

Alessandro Michele, Lana Del Rey, and Jared Leto looked like Mary, Joseph, and Jesus. Kinda weird, kinda cool.

Rihanna, the Queen of the Met Ball herself – and co-chair for the evening – looked stunning in a fully embroidered pope’s outfit. But tbh, we could have done without the hat.

Chadwick Boseman, the only man on this list, fully stuck to the theme, and we love him for it.

Rose Huntington-Whiteley‘s simple headpiece and extravagant gown worked well together.

Janelle Monae did not disappoint in this look in her signature black and white.

And for the Best Dressed of the Evening…..

Jasmine Sanders looked stunning, fantastic, radiant…ok I’ll stop. But the model and actress truly turned on the heat for her first Met Gala, and the explanation of her dress makes the look even better.
